Tourism companies scramble for financial assistance

THE Namibian Tourism Sector Recovery Plan 2022-2024 draft presented by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) on Thursday detailed that over 1 000 companies have applied for financial assistance through the stimulus package offered by the government.

The Tourism Recovery Plan aims to provide targeted strategic interventions, programmes and activities to be carried out for the next three years for the revival and support to the tourism sector in Namibia.

The companies applied for financial rescue through the N$8,1 billion Covid-19 stimulus package, comprising of N$5,9 billion in direct support to businesses, households and cash flow acceleration payments for services rendered to government and N$2.3 billion off-balance sheet government liabilities introduced in 2020.
