Arysteg/Simonis Storm NTTA attracts 79 young players

A total of 79 young table tennis players converged on the Wanderers Sports Hall in Pioneers Park in Windhoek over the weekend to compete in the third tournament of the Arysteq / Simonis Storm Schools Tournament Series 2025. The tournament comprised of 27 junior girls and 52 junior boys, representing a 35 percent participation rate for junior girls, aligning with international guidelines to increase female participation in the sport.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) vice president for Africa, Naftal Kambungu said the organization’s just-concluded general assembly held in Windhoek, deliberated on pressing youth issues, including access to education, health care, clean water, and sanitation.

Out-of-school youth and marginalized groups as well as students at the Namibia Community Skills Development Foundation (COSDEF) and the Welwitchia University are the biggest beneficiaries in a partnership forged between the two institutions recently. 
COSDEF and Welwitchia University have committed to offering scholarships and fellowships to deserving students in order to promote equitable access to higher education.

ONE of the foremost publications in Namibia holding, if not hold out, to be a guide to Namibian politics is the similarly titled publication by Graham Hopwood, which include what is termed the A-Z of Namibian political personalities. 
Given the electric nature of those covered by the book, not to mention the shadiness of some of the would-be personalities, ala the author, it is difficult to discern the meaning of personalities in this regard.

Last year’s general and presidential elections brought the issue of gender equality into sharp focus. It was a call for a woman president. Just any woman. It was cast in those fashionable terms of gender mainstreaming, gender balancing, woman empowerment and gender equality. Former president Hifikepunye Pohamba`s son said his father delivered the first non-Ovambo president and will see the first woman president too. So the debate heated up.

Namibia’s creatives are stepping onto the continental spotlight as two local artists prepare to showcase their work at the RMB Latitudes Art Fair in Johannesburg, South Africa, later this month.

Jo Rogge and Lynette Musikubili will represent Namibia at the prestigious event, with support from RMB Namibia and The Project Room, which is a local arts gallery.
