Jurgen ‘The Sharp-shooter’ Uirab is heading to the 2026 Heyball Champion of Champions, taking place at Wyndham ION Majestic Genting in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), from 23 July to 26 July.
Uirab is the reigning champion of the 2025 Namibia National Blackball League, which qualified him for the Heyball Champion of Champions.
This week Confidente caught up with ‘The Sharp-shooter’, as he shared his views regarding his trip to Malaysia, his love for snooker and his target at the competition, which is expected to attract some of the world’s best snookers.
“I first started playing in 2019 just for fun at a local car wash. However, I began playing more seriously in 2022 when I joined King Cues Pool Club in Windhoek. I am thrilled and deeply grateful for the opportunity to represent my country. I was selected since I was the best player last year,” Uirab said.
“First and foremost, my goal is to play up to my full potential and represent my club with pride. Naturally, I’m aiming for a deep run in the tournament and hoping to challenge for the title. This will be my first time I will be taking part in a competition of this magnitude,” he added.
Competing at a prestigious competition is never easy, something that Uirab is very much aware of, but following his local success, anything is possible.
In order for him to preform to his potential, he will need proper training and determination. “Performing well at this level comes down to thorough preparation. Ahead of the tournament, I’ll be sharpening my break-building, potting, and working on my safety game. Once there, maintaining a strong, calm mindset under pressure will be the key to success. I will be leaving on 20 July.”
