China has pledged an additional US$10 million to the United Nations Women over the next five years, stressing its commitment to advancing women’s empowerment and inclusive global development.

ALTHOUGH the Namibia Football League (NFL), previously known as Debmarine Premiership and the First National Bank (FNB) Women Super League (WSL), are amateur leagues, there are reports that in men football some players are earning a cool N$8,000 per month.
In the FNB WSL, the highest player is believed to be earning around N$2,500 per month. The lowest paid player in men football league is believed to be earning a round N$500 per month depending on the team one is playing for and financial power at that club’s disposal.

The Opuwo Youth Choir (OYC) has made history after clinching multiple medals at the prestigious African Asia Pacific Choir Games.
Under the leadership of founder and senior music director Mbaseua Tjongarero, the choir brought home a gold medal in the Open Competition, a silver in the Grand Prix of Nations, and another silver in the Youth Category becoming the first Namibian choir to achieve such international recognition.

I remember vividly the corridors of the United Nations in October 2000. During Namibia’s leadership of the Security Council in October, I carried with me the conviction that the world needed to view conflict differently. We had emerged from our own liberation struggle, a struggle during which women were not only victims but fighting side by side with our male combatants, leaders and even mediators. It was inconceivable to my colleagues and I that women should remain marginalised in the Council's deliberations on peace and security.
