Collin Garab, popularly known as King Malume, transitioned from being a pastor to becoming Namibia’s Content Creator of the Year simply by addressing relatable issues on social media platforms. He clinched the title at the Savanna Namibian Comedy Awards in December 2024.
Starting during lockdown in 2020, he rose to fame by expressing himself and gaining a wide following of nearly 70,000 across all social media platforms. King Malume, who initially used Facebook as his main platform, has since taken TikTok by storm, thereby escalating his views.

In a breathtaking rise to fame, Namibian artist Yeezir has taken the YouTube scene by storm, with two of his tracks boasting over one million views each. From his humble beginnings during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, Yeezir has quickly emerged as a formidable force in the music industry.
“I got into music during the pandemic; I started making music on my phone and sharing it with friends,” Yeezir recalls. “Their positive feedback gave me the confidence I lacked. With everyone stuck at home, I dove deeper into my craft, and that’s when my current manager discovered me.”

Swapo-Party veterans Ben Amathila and Kanana Hishoono have cautioned against two-centres of power, stressing the need to confirm President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at the party’s extra-ordinary Congress at the end of this month.
Speaking to Confidente, Hishoono warned some “agents” of disunity, who want to form two centres of power, noting that “it will be a waste of time” to disrupt the will of the people, which has been manifested by  Nandi-Naitwah’s popularity when she prevailed with overwhelming majority at the November Presidential elections.

With less than a month to go before the swearing in of Namibia’s 8th Parliament, the newbies in the country’s legislature are already honing their skills and speaking big, amid the excitement of their new jobs. 

Namibians are made to believe that with the introduction of youthful members the swearing in of the next Parliament is set to rebuff claims, from some quarters, that the country is run by ‘old people.’ 

The inauguration of the Chief Hosea Kutako Memorial Museum and Shrine, originally set for Friday, 8 November 2024, has been postponed to 10 December 2024.
