In a political twist that has left many Namibians stunned, Joseph Kauandenge, the long-serving Secretary-General of the National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO), has been confirmed as the president of a newly formed political association, the Association for Localized Interest (ASOLI), despite previously denying any connection to the entity.

Nekundi accused of abbusing power

Transport and works cabinet minister, Veikko Nekundi, has been accused of abusing his executive powers to undermine road safety legislation and protect illegal public transport operators, specifically those using 7-seater vehicles.
In a letter presented to Confidente, retired Chief Inspector Ganaseb who spoke on behalf of traffic law enforcement agencies, expressed alarm at what he described as “public threats” issued by the minister against officers lawfully enforcing the Road Traffic and Transport Act (Act No. 22 of 1999). 

City of Windhoek in 'nepotism' allegations

In a matter that smacks of gross injustice, a Katutura-based motor mechanic is now paying rent to a recently awarded landlord, for a plot that he has been occupying for almost 20 years – despite having unsuccessfully applied for a lease agreement for the same piece of land from the City of Windhoek.

NamWater reports progress on N$91 Million pipeline project

NamWater has announced significant progress on the first phase of its Ondangwa-Oshali pipeline replacement project, with over 11 kilometres of the planned 17-kilometre stretch already completed. The N$91 million project is seen as a major step toward securing a reliable water supply for residents in the Oshana and Oshikoto regions.

Rudd is a force in theatre industry - Ehlers

Namibian theatre artist, Lize Ehlers says that her industry mentor and theatre guru, Sandy Rudd is an outstanding wonder of the world of theatre. Ehlers said this during an interview, during which she also invited theatre lovers to a two-night celebration of Rudd’s timeless work in the theatre industry.

“She is a force and one of the kindest people I have ever worked with,” said Ehlers. The event, which will take place at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) in Windhoek on 16 and 17 May, is titled “Forty Years of Fabulous: A Sandy Rudd Retrospective”.

Ohangwena police warn of fake bank notes

THE police in Ohangwena have warned members of the public to be vigilant following the arrest of two suspects who were found in possession of fake bank notes on Monday. The suspects aged 29 and 36 years old respectively were arrested at Oshikango on Monday after they allegedly to use fake notes to buy alcohol at a well known drinking spot at Oshikango.
