TaTe Diamonds, Namibia’s first fully Namibian-owned, vertically integrated diamond company, has officially opened its flagship fine jewellery showroom in Atlanta, United States of America.

Speaking at the launch, TaTe Diamonds founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tangeni taShi Shiimi-Ya-Shiimi, explained that unlike the typical 15 touchpoints in the diamond industry, their diamonds pass through only three key stages before reaching the consumer.  “They are recovered from Namibia’s ocean by Debmarine and mined on land by Namdeb, then traded through Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC).

The diamonds are cut and polished at TaTe’s Windhoek facility and certified by the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA) before they reach the showroom,” said Shiimi-Ya-Shiimi.

According to Shiimi-Ya-Shiimi, this process ensures that each diamond and jewellery piece maintains provenance, authenticity and traceability. He said the company’s goal is to reflect Namibia’s identity in every product created. The company also introduced the EZIMO collection which is is inspired by the Oshiwambo word meaning “my people, my clan, my family, our collective”.
It is designed to celebrate the cultural heritage, unity and pride of the Namibian people.

Shiimi-Ya-Shiimi said TaTe Diamonds is focused on ensuring that both international and Namibian clients connect with the full story behind each stone, from sourcing to craftsmanship. TaTe Diamonds’ expansion into the United States market forms part of its strategy to grow Namibia’s footprint in the global diamond industry.

The company’s vertically integrated model oversees every step of the diamond value chain, from sourcing to cutting, polishing, and retail, allowing it to maintain source verification and traceability.  The showroom is located in Buckhead, one of Atlanta’s main luxury districts.
