Namibia’s national model Selma Kamanya who is also a Miss World 2018 top 8 finalist, Africa’s 1st runner-up at that competition and former Miss Namibia 2018, will join other beauty queens for the return the international Pink Power Run.
The event hosted by the Sudha Reddy Foundation, in association with the MEIL Foundation and it is set to turn India’s Hyderabad into a sea of pink in solidarity with breast cancer survivors and advocates.
Kamanya will be joined reigning Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri, Miss World continental queens Maja Klajda (Europe), Aurélie Joachim (Caribbean), Krishnah Gravidez (Asia), Jéssica Pedroso (Americas), Jasmine Stringer (Oceania) for the run. The Sudha Reddy Foundation has long been active in women’s empowerment and healthcare, with large-scale breast cancer screening camps, awareness workshops and survivor support programs reaching both urban and rural communities. For Kamanya, the event is a chance to represent Namibia on a world stage once again, this time using her platform to spotlight a cause that impacts millions of women worldwide.
Chuangsri, who herself faced a breast health scare as a teenager, spoke candidly about her motivation to join the charity run.
“Though I was lucky that my lump was benign at an early age, I walked through the fear and uncertainty this journey brings. I want to tell every woman, in Hyderabad and across the world, that you are never alone. Knowledge, early screening and the strength of a united community can and do save lives,” narrated Chuangsri. Adding a voice, Julia Morley CBE, President of the Miss World Organization, applauded Chuangsri’s advocacy noting: “Each year, we listen to the woman crowned Miss World and support the cause she chooses to champion.”
“[Chuangsri] has been a devoted voice for this vital issue for many years and as it is so close to her heart, we felt it only right to make it her official Beauty With a Purpose cause during her reign. Information saves lives, and together, this is our mission,” she added. Founder Sudha Reddy emphasized the importance of the run adding: “Breast cancer awareness is not just a cause; it is a responsibility we owe to every woman. Through the Sudha Reddy Foundation and the Pink Power Run, we aim to reach women in every corner of society, from corporate boardrooms to remote villages, with the life-saving message that early detection saves lives.
“The support from Miss World and the continental winners amplifies our mission on a truly global stage,” she highlighted.
According to the organizers, the run is not just about fitness but is designed to be a movement of solidarity, covering various categories, and including participants of all ages and fitness levels. A standout feature of the 2025 edition will be the participation of women from rural communities, a significant step towards bridging the awareness gap between cities and villages.
