It is not every day that one gets to wake up to the sounds of sirens and the sight of a presidential motorcade driving into your street, in the heart of Katutura, everyday. Or being subjected to a curfew of not moving up and down your street after 22h00.
But in the early 90s, this was the norm for those who lived around Okaramba Street, in Wanaheda, Katutura. This, because they were living in close proximity to the most revered man in the country at that time - the late Founding President, Sam Nujoma.

The first drama series in the Otjiherero/Mbanderu language, Kandu ka Tandaa, recently hit the airwaves on Botswana Television (BTV1) and has proven to be an instant hit among viewers. It has also captivated Namibian viewers who are demanding for it to air on the national broadcaster, Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

The most eminent and most qualified have eloquently spoken, notably, Dr. Hifikepunye Pohamba and former  Minister Ben Amadhila. These tributes led me to have cold feet as I thought to myself “what is there to say still?”  I braved up, for everyone’s contact with Sam Nujoma has its own experience and hence, its own story.  

On February 8, 2025, in Windhoek, His Excellency Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma concluded his 95-year earthly journey.
A humble young man, he grew up under the guidance of his family and community, attending to traditional chores like tending livestock and pounding mahangu at Etunda, Ongandjera. It has been said that while he was a child like any other, he soon began to showcase unique and extraordinary leadership from an early age. This prodigiousness, 95 years later, has touched the four corners of Namibia, Africa, and the world.

Capricorn Group’s profit after tax has jumped by 28.4% to N$1.06 billion, compared to N$827.6 million in the same period last year, Group CEO David Nuyoma has said.
This translates to a 29.1% rise in earnings per share to 196.80 cents. The annualised return on equity also improved from 16.8% to 19.1%, he added.
He said Capricorn Group delivered strong financial results, with profit after tax for the six months ended 31 December 2024 increasing by 28.4% to N$1.06 billion, compared to N$827.6 million in the same period last year.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) has disclosed that it has put mitigating and preventative measures in place to control the Fall Army worm and African Army worm infestations in parts of northern Namibia.
Since January, farmers from mostly the Zambezi, Kavango East and West, Oshikoto and Oshana regions complained about the infestations that in their maize, sorghum and pearl millet fields, prompting assessments from the ministry and the Namibia Agronomic Board.
