KK Palace FC head coach Anderson Phiri

KK Palace FC head coach Anderson Phiri, who hails from Zambia, says leading the club in the Debmarine Premiership was his first time to coach in a league that plays double headers.
Phiri joined KK Palace FC last season and managed to help the club finish above top teams such as Blue Waters, and Tigers in the table.

His move to KK Palace FC came as a big surprise as he joined the team at a time when the club was at the verge of relegation. He however managed to beat all-odds and guided the team to its highest finish in the top flight league.
The Namibian football league is a doubleheader league, which means that each team plays two games a weekend, due to shortage of funds and availability of stadiums.

Speaking to Confidente, Phiri said that he only came to experience doubleheader football in Namibia.
“My mission was accomplished and that was to guide the team to a top eight finish.  My best moment was when we beat the champions (African Stars) and the local derby (against Eeshoke Chula Chula),” said Phiri.
“Where I was previously coaching I have never played on a Saturday and Sunday, and I did not know Namibian football. The moment I studied the all set-up and the type of play, I just went on my periodization coaching methods.”
His said that Bucks Buccaneers FC was the most difficult club his side faced last season.
KK Palace FC is based in Ondangwa in Oshana Region and Phiri says despite leaving his family in Zambia, he been enjoying local traditional food and learned a few Oshiwambo words.

“Oshiwambo traditional chicken is very nice. Mwalelepo nawa (how are you) meme, tate (mother and father, tondoka (run) and yadengwa (beaten) [are some of the words I have learned],” said Phiri.
KK Palace FC chairman and former Namibia Football Association (NFA) president Frans Mbidi, has been instrumental in bringing in the Zambian gaffer on a two season deal.

Phiri previously coached in his native country as an assistant coach at Power Dynamos Football Club, Mufulira FC, Lumwana FC, Roan United all Zambia. He also coached the Botswana Defence Force (BDF)  XI and Platinum and Railstars FC and then in Zimbabwe at Saints, Tunal FC, Mcinn FC and Kujatana FC.
