Hahn, Du Plessis scoop cross country titles

Hugo Hahn and Monique du Plessis were crowned the 2025 Nedbank Namibian Mountain Bike XCC, XCO and Cross-Country Championships, after two days of fierce competition at the Towerbos Trails, recently.

The event was organised by the Namibia Cycling Federation (NCF). Hahn produced a dominant performance in the cross-country olympic (XCO) to win the elite men’s title by coming home in a time of 01:21:27, followed by Martin Freyer, who clocked 01:26:55 and Theuns van der Westhuizen in third place after ending on 01:31:40.

Welwitschias’ 2027 world cup bid sketchy

THE country’s senior men rugby side, nicknamed the Welwitschias is in danger of losing out for a place at the 2027 Rugby World Cup, following a defeat to Zimbabwe in the final of the Africa Cup over the past weekend in Kampala, Uganda.  The match recorded 30-28 points, which resulted in Zimbabwe qualifying for its first rugby world cup since 1991.

The National Youth Fund which was duly capitalised to the tune of N$257 million recently, will line up its next batch of young entrepreneurs who are set to benefit from the government initiative during the first week of August 2025. This revelation was made by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, during her recent presentation of her administration’s achievements in its first 100 days.
