Muyongo cannot come back – Lukato

National Democratic Party (NDP) leader and member of parliament, Martin Lukato is of the opinion that exiled politician Mishake Muyongo cannot return to Namibia without a mediated resolution. Muyongo fled Namibia for Denmark after being linked to a failed attempt to separate the former Caprivi region (now Zambezi)from the rest of the country.

Patrick Kauta, the lawyer representing bribery accused former minister Mac Albert Hengari, has threatened Confidente with a court subpoena, should the newspaper fail to grant him access to recordings and pictures taken at the scene of the former lawmakers’ arrest.

A web of sophisticated financial scam is allegedly operating from behind the walls of the Rundu police station holding cells. The fraud ring, is described as one of Namibia’s biggest scam syndicates as it reportedly involves police officers and local businesses.

Fifteen-year-old table tennis player Lian Gebauer says she is excited and happy to be ranked the top female table tennis player in both the junior and senior categories, after a blistering career in the sport.

 It is rare in any sports discipline to find a teen dominating a code in both junior and senior categories, however, this appears not to be a problem for Gebauer. 

No money for glittering awards – NFA

THE Namibia Football Association (NFA) has revealed that it does not have the budget to hold a glittering ceremony for the 2025 Debmarine Premiership and the FNB Women Super League (WSL).

The FNB WSL is expected to end on either June 7 or 8, while the Debmarine Premiership will also end in June. 
NFA’s league director, Mabos Vries in an interview with Confidente this week, explained that the football management body does not have money for a ceremony but rather a small awards event.

Young Kamatuka emulates brother

Professional footballer Edmar Kamatuka who plays in South Africa’s second tier league for Hungry Lions, says he wants to emulate his elder brother, Joslin Kamatuka.

Joslin (33) was instrumental in his side Durban City scoring 14 goals from 30 matches and will now be playing top tier football next season in that country. Meanwhile, Edmar will continue playing in the national first division for Hungry Lions FC.

The fight against gender-based violence (GBV) has now reached new heights with the erection of a powerful structure in Windhoek, bearing the words, “Do not touch me; I will report you.”

This marks the launch of a nationwide campaign by the Unbroken Voice Movement, aimed at confronting GBV and femicide in Namibia. The initiative, supported by the One Economy Foundation and the City of Windhoek, seeks to transform silence into action and fear into empowerment.
