Fun walk/run event CrossFit Damascus raised a total of N$60 000 for Special Olympic Namibia (SON), at a recent charity event called Namrocks at the Windhoek Showgrounds.
Crossfit Damascus is a fun way to exercise with like-minded people that prepares you for the challenge of daily life and sport.
At least 270 participants took part in the event which started in 2017.
Crossfit Damascus’s Patrick de Goede said the charity event was a big success and that they will continue to host future events in order to help charity organisations that are in need of support.
“We chose SON because of its inclusivity when it comes to sport and because they are sending out a team to international competitions,” explained De Goede.
“We do not decide how the money should be used. It is up to the beneficiaries to decide on that, equally to SON, they will decide on how they are going to make use of the money raised,” he said.
SON is in need of funds to send out athletes to international competitions or even to hold local events as a way of promoting or creating awareness of the work it does.
