At only 10 years old, Pejamberua Romeo Kandjii, widely known as “Chuckies Junior,” is already pursuing a dream far greater than himself.

Inspired by his father’s football legacy and driven by determination, the young defender is steadily building a promising future in the sport.

Born in Windhoek, Kandjii’s love for football began at a very young age. During his early school years at Gobabis Project School, where he completed Grades 1 and 2 while living with his aunt, he spent most of his free time kicking a ball around the yard with cousins and friends.

“Sometimes we even played street football without permission,” Kandjii said. Those playful moments later became the foundation of a serious football journey.

After returning to Windhoek and enrolling at Eros Primary School, Kandjii moved back in with his parents. In 2024, he officially joined DS Football Academy (DSFA), marking the next chapter in his development as a young footballer.

“I watched my father play and I want to reach every level he reached and even go beyond that,” Kandjii shared.
Currently playing for DSFA U11, Romeo has established himself as a versatile defender, operating mainly at centre back and left back.

“When I was younger, I wanted to play striker and winger like my father because he was very fast. But after joining DSFA, the coaches noticed my defensive abilities and over time I also realized that defending is what I enjoy.”

The youngster also looks up to global football star , whose speed and success continue to motivate him to dream even bigger.

“Everything about him inspires me.I even created an AI profile picture with him because I hope to one day reach that level.”

Although football is his passion, Romeo understands that education remains equally important. His parents have ensured that he learns how to balance both responsibilities effectively.

“My parents always remind me that if my school performance drops, football can be taken away until I improve.”

To help him remain focused, the family follows a strict daily routine. After training sessions held at the Eros Primary playground, Romeo returns home to complete chores, wash his football gear, study and prepare for the next school day before bedtime.

“It can be difficult balancing everything, but I have become used to it.”
