MTC Namibia has invested N$1.6 million in a Bloomberg Finance Lab aimed at equipping young Namibians with world-class financial skills and preparing them for careers in finance, technology, entrepreneurship and business.
The Bloomberg Finance Lab Schools Initiative was officially launched in Windhoek at the Bloomberg Finance Lab housed in the High-Tech Transfer Plaza Select (HTTPS) building.
The investment enabled the installation of 12 Bloomberg terminals, giving learners access to global financial data, market analytics and educational resources used by leading financial institutions worldwide. The initiative is a partnership between Bloomberg’s philanthropic programme and MTC.
Speaking at the launch, MTC’s Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, said the investment reflected the company’s commitment to youth empowerment and creating opportunities for young Namibians.
“We did not invest in this Lab as a marketing exercise. We invested because we believe Namibian youth deserve access to the same world-class tools and opportunities available anywhere in the world. By bringing these resources closer to home, we are helping learners broaden their horizons and build confidence in what they can achieve,” he said.
Ekandjo added that exposing learners to global financial systems and investment literacy at an early stage would prepare them for careers in finance, technology, entrepreneurship and business leadership.
MTC also announced that participants in its internship programme will have access to the Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals Certification, enabling them to strengthen their financial literacy and analytical skills as they transition into the workplace.
The company said the Bloomberg Finance Lab forms part of its broader investment in education, innovation and skills development to empower Namibia’s next generation of professionals and leaders.
