Months after her defining moment on the continental stage, Namibian TikTok star Jamie Lee Loss, known as J.loss_10 still recalls the night her name was called an experience she says changed how she sees herself and her future.
“I feel very much seen, and I feel like the sky is the limit now,”
J.loss_10 said. She reflected on her win at the Emerging Africa Awards, where she was named Tik-Tok Star of the Year at the South African State Theatre recently.
Looking back, J.loss_10 describes the moment as surreal and one that came after years of quiet persistence as well as dedication to her craft.
“I genuinely did not expect to win, but for me it was a big achievement and it felt like stepping into a new level,” she said.
A graduate of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), where she completed both her Bachelor’s and Honours degrees in Business Management, J.loss_10 built her content career alongside her academic journey.
What started as a passion project slowly evolved into something much bigger.
“My content journey has been crazy, as I have been posting for years and then one day I posted a video and it just went viral.”
That turning point opened the door to a wider audience and eventually, recognition beyond Namibia’s borders. Being acknowledged internationally remains one of the most meaningful aspects of her journey.
“It is different when you are seen outside of your country and it makes you realise there’s so much more possible.”
Her story is one that resonates with many aspiring content creators, particularly in Namibia, where the digital space is still growing but rapidly gaining momentum.
Through her experience, J.loss_10 has become a voice of encouragement for those trying to find their footing online.
Despite the recognition, J.loss_10 remains grounded, viewing her success not as a final destination
but as a stepping stone toward even greater opportunities.
Her win also reflects a broader shift in Namibia’s entertainment landscape, where social media creators
are gaining prominence and proving that local talent can compete on international platforms.
She continues to grow her brand and expand her reach and she is focused on building something lasting, something that goes beyond viral moments.
For her, the memory of that night is not just about the award, but about what it represents: validation,
growth and the beginning of a new chapter.
“It made me believe in myself even more, and now, I just want to see how far I can go. It is not always going to feel like there is a lot happening, but you have to keep going.”
