Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) president Ndeulipula Hamutumwa has been appointed to the Marketing Commission of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) for the 2025 to 2028 quadrennial, marking another milestone for Namibia’s growing influence in continental sport.
The appointment places Hamutumwa among the officials tasked with promoting and advancing the Olympic movement across Africa through strategic marketing and the promotion of ANOCA-sanctioned events.
His appointment follows a period of growing recognition for his leadership within the Olympic movement.
Since taking over as NNOC president in 2024, Hamutumwa has overseen efforts aimed at strengthening the organisation and expanding its role in the development of sport in Namibia.
Speaking to Confidente following his appointment, Hamutumwa said the role presents an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the Olympic movement while bringing valuable experience back to Namibia.
“It is a privilege to be appointed to the Marketing Commission of ANOCA. Serving on this international platform, one gets to make a contribution to the Olympic movement in Africa, more specifically looking at how to plan and market the Olympic movement in Africa, as well as marketing the games that are associated with or co-ordinated by ANOCA,” Hamutumua said.
He added that serving on the commission would also expose Namibia to international best practices in sports administration.
“One also gets to experience global opportunities, and some of these opportunities are imperative when one is in the sports movement. It will also benefit Namibia as a country because one will have the opportunity to learn best practices and therefore it is really a privilege and an honour to serve,” he said.
ANOCA is the umbrella body representing Africa’s National Olympic Committees and is responsible for promoting Olympic values and coordinating the continent’s participation in the Olympic movement.
