Namibia is set to host the 24th edition of the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations (MXoAN) at Gallina Motocross Park in Windhoek from 29 to 30 August, bringing together about 180 riders from across the continent.
The continental championship, organised by the Namibia Motorsport Federation (NMSF), is expected to attract riders from Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Angola, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique, while Senegal and Botswana are yet to confirm.
The event is governed by FIM Africa, the African arm of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).
According to Anthea Mans, Marketing and Sponsorships representative for MXoAN 2026, riders will compete not only for individual honours but also to earn points for their respective countries.
“Unlike a normal motocross event, riders are racing for more than just themselves. Every result helps their country earn points towards the Overall Country Team Championship,” Mans said.
She said riders will compete in national colours, with the country accumulating the most points crowned African champion.
South Africa currently has the largest contingent with 34 riders, followed by Namibia and Uganda with 30 each.
Riders will compete across several categories, including MX50, MX65, MX Lites, MX125, MX2, MX1, WMX, Veterans and Masters.
Mans said entries remain open, with riders also eligible for individual awards.
Ticket prices range from N$45 for children and N$90 for adults for single-day access, while weekend passes range from N$82 for children to N$165 for adults.
The event is supported by various sponsors, including Waldschmidt Eggs, Holm’s Construction, SMAC, Klein Windhoek Guest House, City Concrete, Architectural Outlet, Marai’s Motor Spares, HP Metzger, Absolute Logistics, Steel Force, HEMCO Paint and other partners.
