Stura & Friends from Omaruru were crowned the 2026 Saridao Super Cup champions in Spitzkoppe, Erongo Region, over the weekend after their opponents, Talent Mafume FC, forfeited the final with just four minutes remaining.
Talent Mafume walked off the field following a penalty decision awarded against them, bringing the match to an early end and handing Stura & Friends the championship.
The tournament was the fifth edition of the Saridao Super Cup, which was first held in 2022. Stura & Friends have now added their name to the list of teams that have lifted the trophy, with Usakos Football Club winning the inaugural edition.
For their victory, Stura & Friends received gold medals, the championship trophy and prize money of N$18 500.
Talent Mafume FC of Windhoek finished runners-up and received silver medals and N$8 500, while Chakalaka from Okombahe took third place and received N$3 200.
Kaleem & Friends of Spitzkoppe finished fourth and were also awarded N$3 200.
The organisers thanked all the participating teams, players, officials and spectators for their support throughout the tournament.
“We thank all the teams, players, referees, coaches, team managers, supporters, and everyone else that registered and took part in this year’s Saridao Super Cup,” the organisers said.
They added that, as hosts and organisers of the annual tournament, they had taken note of the lessons from this year’s competition and would use them to improve future editions.
“Yes, we as hosts and organisers of this annual event have most definitely taken stock and lessons regarding the areas that would need attention, changes and improvement,” they said.
