Fans of choirs and revellers alike, are set to be treated to two-days of melody and rhythm with the return of the second edition of the Bank Windhoek Choral Celebration Concert, the commercial bank announced. This second installation, which will be held from today, June 06 and, tomorrow June 07, will reaffirm the bank’s continued support of the development of the arts in Namibia.
The celebration is an annual event, where, different choirs are invited to showcase their talent, while cultivating a community spirit through choral music. Bronwyn Moody, Bank Windhoek’s head of stakeholder engagement, corporate social responsibility and sponsorship, maintains the concert will cement their role as a dedicated patron of creativity and cultural expression in Namibia.
Moody added that the financial institution has a long-standing tradition of supporting the arts in Namibia. She explained that through various initiatives, sponsorships, and partnerships, the bank has consistently championed the development of Namibian visual and performing arts. “This is an example of our ongoing commitment to nurturing artistic talent and enriching the lives of Namibians through initiatives such as these, enabling collaborations,” said Moody.
According to the bank, the 2025 edition of the event, will host an exciting and inclusive programme that brings together Namibian choral talent. The festival will include workshops and choir clinics and will end with a showcase featuring, Healing Vocals, Windhoek Gymnasium School Choir and Namib Camerata Choir.
“A highlight of the 2025 concert will be the invitation of the highly renowned South African conductor, Renette Bouwer, former conductor of the award-winning University of Johannesburg Choir. “Bouwer will facilitate a choral workshop for conductors and choir clinics with participating choirs, offering invaluable guidance on technique, interpretation, and performance.”
The choral conductors’ workshop is scheduled for today, June 6 with limited space for 100 attendees. The organisers revealed that the second day of the festival will start with the closed choral workshop, where three selected choirs will have one-on-one sessions with Bouwer.
“She will apply the same method that will be taught in the workshop. The second activity on day two will be the ‘Bank Windhoek Choral Celebration Concert’ at the Windhoek High School Main.”
