Nigerian oil billionaire Aliko Dangote says Namibia has more business opportunities to offer beyond projects such as oil tanks.
Speaking at a dinner hosted by the Namibian President, Dangote said he wishes to partner with the government and work to upskill the workforce in order to create jobs. “I want to train Namibian youth to make the workforce employable in the world,” he said.
Dangote was speaking ahead of the Dangote Namibia oil pipeline and tank farm project. He said that whatever investment he makes, he aspires to reinvest in the country.
Speaking at the same occasion, the President reminisced about when she “jokingly” invited Dangote to come and invest in Namibia a while ago. “We are seeing how you have been investing into the continent, and after my invitations, you have come to make Namibia a continental investment.”
Nandi-Ndaitwah said the dinner was an opportunity for Namibian and Nigerian women and men to network and interact to explore opportunities between Namibia and Nigeria.
She said none of her ministers were at the event discussing the midterm budget. “I have instructed them to attend the Dangote pipeline and oil tank launch (3 November 2026) and go back to discussing the budget.”
The dinner was attended by Namibian and Nigerian businesspeople, parastatal chief executive officers, regional leadership, as well as the Director-General of the National Planning Commission, Kaire Mbuende amongst others.
