AFTER years of nine years of waiting, renowned boxing promoter Nestor Tobias, will receive land for setting up a boxing academy. In 2016, Tobias who is ranked as the country’s top box promoter, applied for a piece of land on Erf 1429 in Khomasdal, measuring 4000 square meters. He is the founder of the MTC Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy in Windhoek, housed at the dilapidated Katutura Youth Complex. The approval for his application was signed off by then Minister of Urban and Rural Development Erastus Uutoni, last year.
“I can confirm that the rezoning of the land has been finalised, duly approved by then minister and gazette. Our legal division is currently finalizing the deed of sale,” said City spokesperson, Lydia Amutenya. “We communicated the resolution to the client, setting out all the conditions regarding the sale of the property, including the purchase price, the client can further provide you with the price as stated. What remains outstanding for a complete response, is the confirmation on whether the property transfer has been concluded.”
