The Usakos business community has taken centre stage in advancing the town’s modernisation efforts with the unveiling of a new tourism welcoming frame, a landmark project symbolising unity, pride and a shared vision for growth.
The initiative, spearheaded by local business leaders and supported by the Usakos town council, reflects a growing collaboration between the private sector and local authorities aimed at repositioning the town as an attractive destination for tourism and investment.
Former mayor Clerens Katorab described the unveiling as both a personal and collective milestone.
“It is both an honour and a personal privilege to stand before you today not only as a representative of the business community, but also as a former mayor of this remarkable town as we gather to unveil this welcoming frame. This structure is more than just a physical landmark; it is a symbol of pride, unity and shared vision,” Katorab said.
Welcoming frame is expected to serve as a defining entry point into Usakos, shaping how visitors perceive the town.
“Usakos is a town rich in history, character, and potential. For many travellers, this frame will be their first impression of who we are. And today, we are making a clear statement: that Usakos is open, vibrant, and ready to welcome all who pass through.”
The project was made possible through the combined support of local businesses, demonstrating the power of collective action. Sponsors included Engen Usakos, Pitbull Towing, Paper Jam IT and Stationeries, OK Grocers, Bahnhof Hotel and Carlo Mountain Lodge. Their contributions highlight a strong sense of corporate responsibility and commitment to community development.
Katorab said: “This project is a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a common purpose. It was not built by one individual or one institution it was made possible through the collective effort and generosity of our local business community.”
He further explained the significance orange colour on the frame, noting that it represents warmth, energy, optimism and hospitality, reflecting the spirit and resilience of Usakos and sending a message of welcome to all visitors.
