Young Kamatuka emulates brother

Professional footballer Edmar Kamatuka who plays in South Africa’s second tier league for Hungry Lions, says he wants to emulate his elder brother, Joslin Kamatuka.
Joslin (33) was instrumental in his side Durban City scoring 14 goals from 30 matches and will now be playing top tier football next season in that country. Meanwhile, Edmar will continue playing in the national first division for Hungry Lions FC.
Edmar (22), joined Hungry Lions FC from Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United and has managed to play only seven games all season, due to injuries. Speaking to Confidente this week, Edmar explained that next season he wants to do more and score lots of goals just like his elder brother.
Hungry Lions FC ended the season in the 13th place with 33 points out of 16 participating clubs in the league. “The season went okay, not so good, not so bad. I started a little late in the season [and] played less games. I picked up an injury in mid- February [and] I could not play. I got back into the squad mid-March only.
My best moment was my first game in the starting lineup in the Nedbank cup against University of Pretoria (Tuks),” said Edmar. “The stats of my brother’s team say it all. I am super happy for him. Very proud. The target remains the same. I am definitely heading back to South Africa, looking to score goals and assist. All in all, to follow in my brother’s footsteps,” added Edmar.
Although Edmar is not called up for the current Brave Warriors squad that is gearing up for the 2025 Council of African Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup senior Challenge starting in June, he dreams of playing for the Namibian national team one day.
His brother is part of the current Brave Warriors set-up. “Regarding the call up, I have nothing to say regarding that. The coach has his own reasons for that. But I will definitely be back for sure.”
